About Me

Gemma O’Donoghue
MVB, MRCVS, BSAVA Cert SA Medicine, ANZCVS Feline Medicine,                                                                                                                                       PgC SA Cardiology, PgC SA Diagnostic Imaging.

I qualified as a veterinary surgeon with honours in 2007 from University College Dublin. I worked in a number of busy primary care and referral hospitals in London for 7 years. I concurrently studied for four postgraduate certificates at Masters level in Small Animal Medicine, Cardiology, Feline Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging.

I returned home to Ireland, with my husband and two cats, and began working in Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital in Cork in 2015.
I am a member of the Veterinary Cardiovascular Society, British Small Animal Veterinary Society and International Society of Feline Medicine. I attend multiple conferences each year to keep up to date with all current scientific literature and really enjoy continually progressing in my career.

Using state of the art equipment I aim to provide a high quality service. I specialise in the diagnosis of difficult and complicated cardiorespiratory and medical cases. A thorough investigation and correct diagnosis is most important for appropriate treatment and prognosis. Ultrasound can be used to investigate most illnesses and heart conditions.

My medical, cardiology and diagnostic imaging specialities complement each other and allow me to provide a clinical interpretation with each ultrasound performed, as well as advice regarding case management. The referring vet will receive a detailed report with the scan images and a written summary.

I pride myself on being friendly caring, and professional. Each pet’s care and well-being is most important during any investigation and will be kept comfortable at all times.
